BACKGROUND

Mecklenburg Transportation System (MTS) is a service within the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services (DSS) that provides approved non-emergency subscription route and demand response transportation to eligible consumers within Charlotte/Mecklenburg County. The county estimates that there are over 200,000 residents that are eligible to use their services.

INITIAL CHALLENGES

In 2019, MTS was looking for a solution that included live streaming videos and the need to easily share videos on their buses. MTS was looking for a solution to protect its drivers and passengers to increase the safety, , and dependability of their fleet.

Fortress Mobile equipped 25 MTS buses with its Nova X DVRs. They used six (6) cameras for live surveillance inside the vehicle. This setup for MTS also includes Fortress SureBus™ software capabilities and Mobile App that features an event marker installed in the driver area, allowing the vehicle operator to mark a file, allowing the expedited retrieval and review process. With the Auto-Download feature, they could instantly retrieve, download, and review needed videos. The system also records the GPS coordinates providing the synchronized vehicle location, speed, and direction of travel digitally displayed under a map in the playback section of SureBus™.

SOLUTION RESULTS

As a result of this all-in-one solution, MTS was able to view live feeds on their buses, as well as being able to easily download and share recorded video.
