How can I determine what is best for me between an SD Card or a larger HD system?

It will depend on how many days of recording and cameras you require. A standard 64GB SD Card will usually provide 8-12 days of video on a four-camera system. A 500GB HDD will provide 2-3 months of video. We typically recommend an HDD when using 5-8 cameras or when you need more than approximately two weeks of video storage for a four-camera system.

What is the maximum SD card capacity that the NOVA DVRs handle?

There is no limit to the SD card capacity. All Fortress Nova DVRs support SDXC, which means they support all types of SD cards. Please consult with the SD manufacturer or Fortress IT staff to ensure the SD card meets the application requirements.

WI-FI & GPS

How does Wi-Fi in the yard work?

Wi-Fi equipped vehicles will automatically download video/audio files that are marked via the Event Marker. This process will start when the vehicle enters the Wi-Fi network. The Wireless Network can be configured for a single lot or multiple lots with multiple access points.

Wi-Fi in the Yard
What are the benefits of Wi-Fi?

The main benefit of Wi-Fi downloads is that the “EVENT MARKED” video will automatically be downloaded to the assigned data server once the bus is within range of the access points positioned in the yard. While the DVR is still on, the user has access to the hard drive for other troubleshooting or viewing tasks.

We manufacture and install our GPS tracking system on the vehicle. Our products will accept all major SIM card carrier companies, like AT&T, Verizon, etc. The device obtains all the vehicles’ geographic information and sends it out through the network to our cloud system (SureBus.org).
